FAMILY

Had to share an email I received today.... this is so true...

F A M I L Y

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
'Oh excuse me please' was my reply.

He said, 'Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you.'

We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said goodbye.

But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old..

Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.

When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
'Move out of the way,' I said with a frown.

He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.

While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,

'While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use,
but the family you love, you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.

Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.

He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes.'

By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.

I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
'Wake up, little one, wake up,' I said.

'Are these the flowers you picked for me?'
He smiled, 'I found 'em, out by the tree.

I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue.'

I said, 'Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way.'

He said, 'Oh, Mom, that's okay.

I love you anyway.'

I said, 'Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue....'

FAMILY
Are you aware that if we died tomorrow, the company
that we are working for could easily replace us in
a matter of days.
But the family we left behind will feel the loss
for the rest of their lives.

And come to think of it, we pour ourselves more
into work than into our own family,
an unwise investment indeed,
don't you think?
So what is behind the story?

Do you know what the word FAMILY means?

FAMILY = (F)ATHER (A)ND (M)OTHER (I) (L)OVE (Y)OU

Terry Fox Run

I’m a bit upset today! I volunteer my time for the Dubai Terry Fox Run. I don’t know if you’ve heard of Terry Fox….

At 21, Terry Fox, attempted to run across Canada with an amputated leg to raise money & awareness for Cancer Research. It is amazing how the unselfish mission of one single young man, today is an inspiration to so many of us…. No matter where in the world we live.

In Dubai, The Terry Fox Run is held annually and is a non competitive charity event. The Marathon of Hope only has one single dream and one mission - to raise money for cancer research. All over the world 99% of all funds collected during the Terry Fox Runs directly go towards cancer research. Funds are remitted to institutions accredited by the International Union Against Cancer in Geneva. That is indeed something to be proud of, for each and every Terry Foxer..

Back to why I’m upset….. For the run, everything…. EVERYTHING is contributed or volunteered by a person or a corporate. This ensures that the run does not spend on anything, except ‘Cancer Research’. I needed some stuff to be done and tried contacting a few people and a few corporates. Some are actually acquaintances… (shocking isn’t it?)

It is indeed sad to know that the first thing they ask is ‘what kind of branding will we get?’, ‘where can we put our logo?’, ‘what is in it for us’?

What has happened to this world? Why are people so selfish? Do you have to wait till you are in some way directly affected by the disease to contribute towards it??? Does each action have to be beneficial to yourself in some way??

Isn’t it sad?? I’m mourning for all these ignorant people… Who live their daily lives for themselves and have in no way given back to the community or to the world. What is the purpose of their existence??

Why me??

I heard someone say ‘Lord, why me?’….. I was wondering what the Lord would say in return. He is probably thinking ‘Why not you? Can you suggest someone else?’….

I laughed… went up to that person and told her. She laughed…. We laughed together. She said… she’ll never ask that question again!!

People

There are people who let things happen and there are people who make things happen .

Which one are you??

Courage

blessings..

‘I wept because I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet’..

~~An ancient Persian Proverb

I absolutely love this line.. and think its so important to stop complaining & count our blessings - however big or small..
